One of the weirdest sensations was that the magnificent views were just too easy to reach. I'm used to photographing the coast where the paths are few and the rocks are slippery. This just seemed too easy. Like Disneyland as a kid; suddenly your surrounded by fun and all you had to do was show up! Felt a little guilty (and quite honestly like I hadn't realized the images myself; less fullfilling...). I processed 11 rolls of 120 E6 yesterday; way too tired after that to do the BW. I had shot about 5 of the rolls at Yosemite; the rest were the bloom of wildflowers that has taken place in our hills over the past several weeks. I'll perhaps send a link when I scan a few; probably awhile as scanning takes time. Not sure if I should post them here as they are 6x6 and non-Leica related. Looking at the transparencies rekindled my awe of celluloid in medium format... Thanks again for looking. Doubly nice for me that I could trigger fond memories, Bob Date: Sun, 27 Apr 2008 20:57:25 -0700 From: "Alastair Firkin" <afirkin@afirkin.com> Subject: Re: [Leica] IMG: *WARNING - Cliche Photos* To: "Leica Users Group" <lug@leica-users.org> Message-ID: <20080427205725.787EDB6B@resin13.mta.everyone.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Bob, the sight of water in the falls was wonderful to this drought ridden Australian. I well remember my visit with George Lauterstein, and your images bring back those wonderful memories. Yosemite is indeed a jewel: much smaller jewel than I had realized from the AA images. Good luck with the celluloid ;-) --- rgacpa@yahoo.com wrote: From: Bob Adler <rgacpa@yahoo.com> To: Leica Enthusiasts Group <leica@freelists.org>, Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> Cc: Subject: [Leica] IMG: *WARNING - Cliche Photos* Date: Sat, 26 Apr 2008 11:36:46 -0700 (PDT) Every other Friday Jim Brick and I usually get together for a photo road trip. Usually we go down the Monterey/Big Sur coast; no end to the images there. Yesterday we decided to go to Yosemite. I picked Jim up at his house at 6am (I left my house at 5:40ish). I got back to my house at about midnight. Long day! The roads inside Yosemite Park were mostly still closed from ice and winter's ravages, so we were only able to go down in the valley and on the road south (Tunnel Road I think). The first stop was Yosemite Falls; there is an upper and lower falls: http://raflexions.com/Leica/content/L1000649_Yosemite_large.html One can walk down an easy path to the base of the Lower Yosemite Falls that dumps into the Merced River: http://raflexions.com/Leica/content/L1000674_Yosemite_large.html At the end of the day, we photographed the view made famous by Ansel, from the Tunnel Road turnout; http://raflexions.com/Leica/content/L1000677_Yosemite_large.html Fortunately, not many photographers ever heard of this location: http://raflexions.com/Leica/content/L1000698_Yosemite_large.html Technical stuff: M8, 21mm and 35mm, with polarizing filter (except the last image). All tripod (except the last image), shot RAW, converted in Lightroom. Most of the day was spent shooting film; hope to be developing that tomorrow! C&C always very much anticipated and appreciated, Bob Bob Adler Palo Alto, CA http://www.raflexions.com ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
