OK I just bought this uncle Mao scanner for 200 bucks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=250206106945 According to the spec sheet: http://www.plustek.com/product/film_compare.asp The resolution is supposedly 7200 dpi and the lowest 7200 model I bought is about the same as the high priced one but it has some sort of slide viewfinder window and it doesn't have the infrared automatic scratch remover gizmo. I don't have any scratched negatives so I guess I don't need it. Also, the 7200 takes longer to scan a negative. Here's the individual page for it. http://www.plustek.com/product/7200.asp So then Am I going to be happy with this thing? That pastelish blue is real nice. It reminds me of the toys I played with when I was a baby.
