Softbox will provide the closest, easy to set up facsimile. Remember that to fake window light from a soft box. The softbox will need to be as large as the window that you're trying to fake. Also, the quality of the source within the box will affect the result. The idea is to flood the softbox with 'even' light. In the case of a quantum head you may achieve the closest to window with the bare tube within the softbox. You'll lose a lot of light - but perhaps get better coverage on a large box. The chimera boxes with silver linings and bare tubes do very well. Yet, a window is a window. ;~) Regards, George Lottermoser george@imagist.com http://www.imagist.com http://www.imagist.com/blog Picture A Week - www.imagist.com/paw_07 On Dec 16, 2007, at 3:43 PM, Eric Korenman wrote: > I've tried shoot thru / shoot into umbrellas, shoot against white > walls, > scrims, soft boxes (closest look yet) > but nothing is 'right'. > > How do you fake it? > That is - soft north window light?
