Welcome to the LUG. I hope you get a Leica. I started with a screw mount IIIf, but I felt more comfortable (especially for quick snapping) with the M3 I still use. Just to prepare your expectations, it took me a year with the M3 until I could use it "automatically", without thinking about the camera, but from then on it was, as they say, an extension of my eye, and I still prefer rangefinders for most of my personal photography. Compared to them, the Canon 1D at work is a chore to use a lot of the time. I still spend time in the darkroom, so if I can offer advice about B&W processing, ask.
