Subject: [Leica] MR4 died - what are the typical failure modes?

I brought out my MR4 meter tonight, popped in a good battery, and no
response to light.

Were these prone to dying?  What was prone to dying, the photocell?

Frankly, I can't remember if it worked when I put it away, over a year ago.
