TTL flash can be crucial for such a set up as it resolves vibration problems
and the amount of light given out though in that very small burst of time is
enough to stop down; making for a few needed millimeters front to back in
focus.

Twinkie like haters need to learn to deal with it when it comes to macro.
Go into the Light. There is peace and serenity in the Light.

And for some reason in macro shots flash does not look so much like flash.
It kind of much more so passes for real light.

Dying is easy, Macro is hard.
