And I do think of this as a gateway book. I hope that after people buy it, and enjoy looking at the the photos, they'll pay attention when amazon.com recommends "based on your buying habits, we think you might like:" -- Suburbia, or Teenagers in Their Rooms, Passing Gass, or Mary Ellen Mark and that this one book might lead to a photography book addiction. That was always my plan anyway. I do think that this book has the potential to have a lot of overlapping markets. It may get some people thinking about America, other people thinking about guns, other people thinking about interior design, and still others thinking about photography. I have high hopes. Thanks to everyone who's bought it and continues to talk it up. Media (magazine reviews, newspapers, and the like) is being held up until August 1 to make sure that it's on shelves in bookstores when the publicity hits. My own local bookstore (barns and noble) is filing it under "political science" rather than "art" -- go figure -- so if you don't see it on the shelves where you're expecting to find it, go ahead and ask. thanks again, kc on the edge of his seat waiting to break the News to the Lug -- but not just yet!
