Phil Swango wrote a few weeks ago about a $99 Samsung 6 megapixel  
camera he picked up.

What was the model, Phil?

I just got a S630 ($99 at Circuit City) for my youngest. It killed a  
pair of Duracell AAs in less than 10 frames. A cheaper pair of AAs  
wouldn't even boot the camera. Called support and they said that 10  
to 15 frames was normal for Alkaline AA., but they could sell me NiMH  
rechargables that would get maybe 3 times that life. That tells me  
that this is NOT the camera I want.

Suggestions for a decent $100 digital for a kid who takes snapshots  
of friends?
