My thought is you can't really learn photography with automatic cameras.... But I will confess that I often used the Nikons with an adapter to simplify metering. I later bought a Minolta Flashmeter III and one day I spotted the accesory sensor for it in used dept at Schiller in St. Louis. It can be used to meter from the film plane or off the groundglass of the focusing screen. Then my eye troubles started and I have never used accessory finder. But the flashmeter also works as a normal lightmeter and I have used that a lot, But if you also shoot with Nikons, try to find a used Bellows IV and the matching copy attachment. The front standard movements are wonderful for close-up work. I was also curious to compare my 90 Summilux with the Nikkor 85 and 105.
