I really hope that we can get together. How else will I find the pretty senoritas, the great beer and tapas and collect the defective Leica equipment from you? I also need some help with where to buy Provia in Barcelona. We are getting excited about the trip. It seems that we will come via Tokyo and stay in Brussels for a couple of days, then fly to Barcelona. We look forward to meeting you and Marta. My wife's name is Bronwyn. That is Welsh from her family. We usually say Bron or Broni. I am sure that we can all make ourselves understood. So not too much wine for Luis or we might lose our translator! I hope that you do have a good rest day and things get better for you. Talking about the LUG photos, I think that you and I were close in the judging. I think we have some similar ideas and opinions! Cheers Hoppy _____ From: Luis Ripoll [mailto:luisripoll@telefonica.net] Sent: Friday, 4 May 2007 08:19 To: 'G Hopkinson' Subject: RE: hoppy is definitely coming for tapas Hola querido amigo, First at all I go to the most important question: As apperitiv I like very much to drink white wine, normally too with fish (this is a very good thing in our territory), I had a german friend that called the white wine "Un vino para hablar" (A wine for chat), on the Barcelona's region, close to Sitges is the most famous area to produce excellent white wines and Cava (Catalan Champagne), I know some some excellent young white wines what you can pay 5 to 7 Euro per bottle, that they are really excellent ones, to have a long chat!, but white wine is like a really good water, the alcohol sense you get it better with a generous red wine, in Spain we have two privilgied Regions, Rioja and Ribera del Duero, now also is in fashion worldwide Priorato, this region is close where I was born, at 100 Km. from Sitges to the South, when I was a child this wine was not appreciate, it was so strong, is a wine "a son of the Sun", now these wines are really well do and with excellent taste. I neither understand the criterias of the Lug contest, anyway, congratulations, I think your pics was better classifiedsa than mines, maybe you are right, my lenses are deffective.... The important thing is that this is a nice entartainment for all. I really envy you have the time to enjoy photography, talk with other Luggers etc..., I have no time my friend, even no time to shot. I'm traversing a difficult businness period and I'm not very happy with my private life, maybe for this reason when I decide to have a free day to enjoy and play my hobby, I really exploit it!. It makes me really happy your words telling me that I have many friends on the LUG, this is much more than a list!, I have meet on the LUG really nice people, persons that is not usually easy to find. Euro is the currency for all Europe, and it is of course the best money to have, but in Spain Visa is generally accepted by all the Restaurants, Hotels, Shops... Don't worry to be the translator, I'm so much use to be to understand write English better than conversation, my wife don't speak English at all and she's affraid, her name is Marta (in English will be Martha), sorry, I never remember your wife's name. I hope have a great time with you next October! Un abrazo! My new passport arrived today. So we will have our flights booked very soon. Did you see the results from the monthly competition? I do not understand the judges at all. Some rankings seem crazy. I do not understand why Montie's picture won. I do think that Steve Barbour's photo at number two is very good seeing. Some of the photos that I did not like at all were Brian Reids!!! Anyway, I will take pictures that please me and always share with my friends. Today I bought an Epson 3800 printer and now I will be able to make bigger prints and spend more money on ink and paper! I have been talking with the LUG chat program with some people in USA. (SonC, Kyle, Chris Williams and others) It is fun but it does use up more time in front of a computer. I am swapping some pictures with Mark Rabiner. He said that he really admires your work and Spanish culture and would like to meet you. You have many friends on the LUG. Now for my trip to Espana. Is the Euro the best money to bring to Sitges and Barcelona? Would you please tell me again your wife's name? We are still trying to learn a few words of Spanish but are very bad at it. I am afraid that you must be the translator when we are there. Do you like to drink red or white wine when we are not sharing a beer together? Talk to you again soon, my friend Geoff
