My private reason for pursuing this is that I've got some lenses I would like to use without filters, and I'd like to know when I can do that without any problem. The first example is an acryclic hat under a mix of tungsten and daylight. The color of the hat is my son's school colors, so there are situations where you need to get them right! In this example the color shift is very noticeable, and I think I'll have to always use a filter. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/MarkEDavison/M8infrared/L1000655+acrylic+hat+filt+WB+napkin.jpg.html http://tinyurl.com/2jtqgg http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/MarkEDavison/M8infrared/L1000656+acrylic+hat+no+filt+WB+napkin.jpg.html http://tinyurl.com/2k4378 The second example is green foliage under daylight. Here the color shift is subtle, but discernible. What is acutally lush, green new foliage turns slightly tawny (too yellow). My conclusion is that I will have to use filters for landscape shots with lots of green foliage. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/MarkEDavison/M8infrared/L1000648+sRGB+scrn+WB+card+w+UV+IR+filt.jpg.html http://tinyurl.com/33lcy4 http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/MarkEDavison/M8infrared/L1000649+sRGB+scrn+WB+card+no+UV+IR+filt.jpg.html http://tinyurl.com/2tq7nl Although these examples are in sRGB, you will have to profile your monitor and carefully load the profile (on Windows!) if you want to see the shifts that I am seeing.
