Speaking only about my own equipment I can say that I had to return my EOS 24-105 F4 IS L lens with a severe problem of vignetting; I was lucky and my Nikon D200 wasn't with banding issues but previous serial numbers got it. Just two cases but for sure there are others; the M8 is the first Leica digital -excluding Panasonic items- and after some months of use I haven't got any problem and when I receive the IR filters I'm not sure I'm going to use them. So even not being a superior class of photographer as Ted and Tina -among others- I'm ready for purchasing another M8 when necessary precisely because I was waiting the launch of *new* EOS 1Ds Mk III for changing my Mk II and this has not happened. I believe that M8 can be purchase in confidence. Felix
