I double checked and he indeed quoted me the 486 filter, so all is okay. The on-line catalog does list the 489, which as you point out is not what Leica M8 shooters need. The reference to the "289" in the original subject was a double typo. I will go hide now. Thank you very much. You want the 486 filter. If you got a 489 filter, also IR blocking, it has the wrong characteristics ( more blue light pass, and a closer cutoff than the 486 for IR.) Incidentally, B+W also make slim filters in 49 and 55mm mount......! and a bunch of others.... I could not locate info on a B+W 289 filter.......
