No, corn syrup is now used because the US produced more corn than we could 
eat. Something had to be done with the excess or many 
farmers would be broke(more so than the ones now). Yes it is worse than 
sugar.

But this is a debate left to the LugForum and had nothing to do with Leica. 
Unless Leica was smuggling corn syrup during WWII.
