It does seem a little odd that "They're Red Hot" is the only cut on the album that's not a 12-bar blues; it's more of a Piedmont style rag. The liner notes are at pains to point out the wide range of music styles recorded during the Johnson sessions, mostly country/western/hillbilly but also including Mexican artists. And anyone who recorded in the 1930s was influenced by radio -- Johnson reportedly liked popular music and often performed songs like "My Blue Heaven" and "Tumbling Tumbleweeds." Now that's one I'd love to hear! -- Phil Swango 307 Aliso Dr SE Albuquerque, NM 87108 505-262-4085
