The IIIf has a little tongue sticking up from the base-plate to get, and hold, the film all the way in. The IIIc doesn't have that prong/tongue and there is no room for it in the body even if you find a base-plate for the IIIf and try and use it in a IIIc. For me, this is the major difference between the IIIc and IIIf, since I don't use a flash with these cameras. Daniel
