Subject: [Leica] My First Picture of the New Year--One Big Bologna

Central Pennsylvania has become somewhat famous for its local New Year's Eve
"drops". Lancaster, PA is known as a rose city, so it drops roses at
midnight. Another town is known for its wooden sleds, so they lower a sled
at midnight.

Lebanon, PA is famous for Lebanon bologna, in either regular or sweet
varieties. For the past ten years the town has created an enormous Lebanon
bologna, which is lowered to touch the ground at midnight. After the
celebration, the bologna is donated to a local homeless shelter.

About 500 people gathered at the 9th and Cumberland parking lot for the
event. After the bologna descended, the DJ broke out the Village People's
classic rendition of "YMCA". There were 500 people dancing to "YMCA" around
a 7 1/2 foot long, 125 lb. vertical bologna. Hopefully a harbinger of very
good times in 2007!

Some digital Olympus thing, lightened up so you can see the bologna.
