It is wrong for the consumer. If the M8 becomes an orphan, it is because Leica did not listen to its customers. Specific filter placed on each and every lens will work, but are a bad fix for the IR issue. Putting the IR filter coating on the sensor cover is the only acceptable solution. As far as the other issues, the FW and SW updates to the camera body, including sending it to Solms for work, is the right solution and is responsible. People love to repeat stuff like that, no matter how seldom it occurs - and you can look to the Kodak SLR and the Hexar RF to see where that chitter-chatter leads. So I also wouldn't be surprised if the M8 disappears as a result of kvetchmongering.
