I am getting magenta cast on the last rolls of Tri X, I think it's means my 
fixer is bad. Very likely as this is a bottle of T-max fixer I have stored 
somewhere.

Would that be any permanent harm? The fixer is to remove the exhausted 
silver right? So I should be able to just re-fix and everything should be OK?

May be that's what you need with your M8: fresh fixer.
