Alastair, With Aperture 1.5 release Aperture no longer pulls all images into a database ala iPhoto. Now it will allow you to store the images where ever you want and make a "reference" to those files ala iView. You can create a vault which is a backup dump of your database to an external drive other than the one you normally use. As far as using an external for all of your storage including ones you are currently working on, I'd not recommend it as they are slower than internal drives. Put an extra drive in that Mac and use if for image storage, then dump, or archive, of to externals as the projects move into the past. -- Harrison McClary Harrison McClary Photography harrison@mcclary.net http://www.mcclary.net ImageStockSouth - Stock Photography http://www.imagestocksouth.com Tobacco Road: Personal Blog: http://web.mac.com/whmcclary/iWeb/tobacco-road/Blog/Blog.html
