There are numerous R lenses that can only be described as "astounding" both in performance and in their ability to destroy bank accounts. Many of the older lenses are more reasonable in both respects but when you see what the 280 f/4 APO or 180 f/2.8 APO or 100 f/2.8 APO Macro looks like through an SL viewfinder one's cognitive abilities approximate those of a toddler who's had his first taste of chocolate and you soon find yourself in awe of the rich colors and grain-defying detail of your chromes and you hardly notice the months of eating nothing but outdated bread.
