It was fairly clear for an August day, but there was still just enough moisture in the atmosphere to show up in the distance shots where it seems to be compressed along with everything else in the photos. Some of you may remember this photo taken a year ago today with the 500mm when it was hazy and foggy: http://www.half-fast.com/LongLenses/images/081205-Takumar500-2-lights.jpg To give you an idea as to how far away I was, here's a photo taken from about the same spot last year with a normal 50mm lens on my Leica R8: http://www.half-fast.com/LongLenses/images/081705-Leica-50mm.jpg Here's yesterday's photos: http://www.half-fast.com/LongLenses-08112006/ The white lighthouse, Boston Light, is a bit over a mile away and the gray one, Grave Light, is over 3 miles away. I had hoped to include a photo or two of a passing ship, but there weren't any for the two hours that I was on the hill. And last, here's a shot taken with the ArsatGraflex, the lighthouses are out there at about the middle of the horizon: http://www.half-fast.com/TelegraphHill-F-small.jpg Jim
