(FYI the Richard Hammar book on Clergy returns is the authoritative resource) Additionally, with my working in Silicon Valley I prepared many many returns with International consequences (all those engineers working here on Visas). I have worked in Olympia, WA. for the past 4 years and due to the proximity to Ft Lewis I have seen dozens of 2555's (Foreign Income Exclusion) not for the soldiers but for truck drivers, security guards, construction people, "civilian contacors" If conditions are met ....you can exclude up to $80k per year in income....Look up Pub 54 on the IRS.gov website. You can certainly bet the Government "monitors" all financial transactions under the excuse of "drug laundering" and "National Security" The IRS surely has access to those records and can request that you identify what they are...... e bay has refused to disclose transaction records to the IRS....even so....I report my profits from sales on e bay to the IRS...It just makes things easier... jon
