Extender is not a good way to make close-ups.

Quoting Jim Nichols <jhnichols@bellsouth.net>:

> Last week, during a lengthy thread concerning various lenses that
> contained rare earth glass which can emit radiation, someone
> suggested we had discussed the subject enough, and should go out and
> use the lenses to take pictures. I finished up a roll in my
> Spotmatic, and would like to show a couple of examples, made with the
> 50mm f/1.4 Takumar and a 2X extender. Since this was not Leica
> glass, I hesitated to submit them as "Friday Flowers", but the
> quality of the lens is impressive to me. It shows no sign of
> yellowing. I do not have access to a geiger counter to check for
> radiation, but at my age, as someone suggested, it is not really a
> cause for concern.
