The D1 seems a good choice as well as the D50.
Reason:  Cheap and uses AIS Lenses.  The D1 seems to use more of the 
features of the camera with non-AF lenses... like AE.

D1 seems to be around $400.. but I would need the battery and charger or AC 
line cord and a memory card.
The D50 is seemingly fair traded at around $600, new USA warranty, all 
equipped.

Still undecided......
