It was a little strange to walk through the wasteland that large sections of N. O. has been turned into. Growing up I had heard the stories and seen the pictures of the after math of the war and it was only slightly surreal to walk through such a landscape. One of the oddest aspects of walking through the 9th Ward is the near total silence. There are no animals to be found, except for a few crows and oddly enough gray city pigeons,which are more commonly found in cities.
