It decribed its joint efforts as "optical technology." Leica added that they do no intend to invest in each other's stock or to merge their operations. {regards, bob cole} Here is the full announcement: Dear Leica friends, Leica Camera AG (ISIN DE000A0EPU98/ISIN DE000A0EPU72), Solms, and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., Osaka/Japan, have signed a memorandum of understanding on the continuation of their cooperation in the field of optical technology for digital still cameras on 24 February 2006. Both partners add their respective know-how and create real synergies in producing cutting edge digital products. The major objectives include a further prolongation of their cooperation based on the successful fruits proven so far on the course of cooperation in past years.
