That must cut both ways! Had this reply to Frank's story from my
friend who lives in Huddersfield:

"Attached you will find a copy of a map showing the British Counties
as they were before they made a complete dog's bo . . . . of them
around 1974. Yorkshire at that time was made up of the Ridings and
Yorkshire folk being Yorkshire folk they refuse to acknowledge the
new boundaries or names. Although certain things changed after 1974
in essence the size difference between Lancashire and Yorkshire
remains the same. I rest my case! :-)

Some locals would have it that the only decent thing to come out of
Lancashire is shown in the other attachment. The photograph is taken
near the Yorkshire Lancashire border!!"

The jpeg mentioned was the M62. :-)
