[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Within Atlanta there are patches of land that are heavily forested; Atlanta was essentially clear cut from the 1870's to about 1910 so most such stands are about 100 years old and are classic mixed hardwood forests. The theory that the southern forests were mostly pine is false with the exception of some coastal areas where the long leaf pine was the dominant species.
