Subject: [Leica] Zeiss lenses in M42
From: msmall at infionline.net (Marc James Small)

Remember, guys, that the M42 mount was first developed by Carl Zeiss Jena
when KW felt that their Prewar M40 lensmount was too restrictive. The
earliest known M42 lens is a 2/5.8cm Biotar dating from 1939.

Praktica M40 production continued for a decade or more thereafter, but the
M42 tradition had been established.
