bruce offered a suggestion:
> Tina, may I suggest that you take one of the younger paritioners under
> your arm (into your confidence) and use him/her as a lens support/tripod
> (shoulder/head) to replace the gun-stock for the 400. The adults will be
> happy/jealous to see one of their own sharing activities with the foreign
> lady and earning extra favors for the church.<<<<

Bruce,
I realize your intentions of suggestion are quite valid and I understand
what you say exactly. However, thanks but no thanks! And that's exactly what
I'd say to Tina. Simply because you are now turning it into a visual circus
shoot with a bigger visual disturbance! Period!

Yeah it might be a fun thing at a carousel day out side but in this case the
kid could become more of a distraction. Let alone with a 400mm lens resting
on his head or shoulder and he's not tall enough or doesn't stand steady?

May I ask, have you ever felt the weight of a 400mm lens on your shoulder
during 6 or 7 masses one right after the other? Let alone put the lens on
your own shoulder while some else is shooting for an hour or more at one
time. Boy is that ever an eye opener about weight and sore spots.

No she'll do just fine with a monopod and on her own.
