The definition of obsolete is "Outmoded in design, style, or
construction."
The moment a new model outmodes an older model the older model becomes,
by definition, obsolete. Doesn't mean useless. The early production M3
was obsolete 40-years ago, but I still use mine. 

Leica never was big on adding modes.
