Sometimes it's OK if you prefocus. But sometimes not. But if you want to get past the "new camera every six months" syndrome, you could have gotten an Olympus E-1 like I did. Then you can sit in utter frustration and the promised fast normal prime doesn't materialize, and a new pro-quality body is only a vaporous hint after two years. :-) I've been staying with film for the important stuff, and daring to experiment in all sorts of ways with the digital. The Leica is fast. The Leica does what I tell it to. But Sonny, I remember the *ist D and DS having very usable focusing screens, for a DSLR. Couldn't you have taken your supermarket shot by prefocusing the *ist on manual, or is the lag that significant even so? --Peter At 05:30 PM 10/11/2005 -0700, Sonny wrote: > >One of the reasons > >I am going back to film is that the camera will shoot when I want > it to, not > >after it calculates all the stuff in the histogram, minus the phase of > >the > >moon. > > > >My Digilux 2 spends most of its time in the bag now for just this >reason.
