Prefer the first. It's a lot more intimate somehow. The expression of the 
guy on 
the right, which I have seen many times in Poland, is archetypical and 
there's 
something about the rendering of the top of the cane that appeals to me. Not 
to 
mention the man on the left whose expression clearly is of intense 
concentration 
  on his companion.

of the three I prefer the first; I like the composition and the colour.
