I keep mine on a hard drive until I'm ready to catalog, then I use Archive Creator to determine how many DVDs I will need and name each one sequentially or however I want. I burn the DVDs and then import to iView from the DVDs. iView records the name of the DVD for each file that is cataloged. When you look at the preview for any photo, it will tell you which DVD the photo is on. If, on the other hand, you intend to keep them on the hard drive then you could separate them into folders - a certain name for those cataloged, which you would want anyway since iView will record them that way, and another folder for those not yet cataloged.
