Hi Steve.

Thanks for the welcome, I feel very lucky with this group already.

I do put the film leader into the take up spool. When I say "doesn't 
catch" I refer to when I turnn the knob it seems to slip inside the 
spool, as if the spool is slipping over the shaft. I hope I am 
explaining myself. I read about the film being trimmed...was it 4 
inches?... I was trying to avoid doing so, I guess I won't be able to 
skip that one....;-)
