But the calculator on my computer insists that 25.4 (the number of mm in an inch) divided by 1000 is 0.0254 which, when inverted, yields a multiplication factor of roughly 40 (39.37, to be precise). 1/10 of 25.4 is 2.54. 1/100 is 0.254. 1/1000 is 0.0254.
