"if they were photographers" looking at the effect, the lingo wouldn't be so damn hard to understand! If photographer's had designed digi camera's "noise" would be called "Electronic grain!" Then real photographers would've known what the heck they were talking about and how the effect would look.! Heck the first time I heard about noisy digital cameras I couldn't believe the designers would be so stupid to make a "NOISY" camera, when for years we'd been using Leica's because they were quiet. And when my first digi camera arrived I held it to my ear after reading about "Noise" So I fired it a few times trying to hear the noise everyone was talking about. No "Audible sound!" It was like what the heck are they talking about "noisy cameras?" Then I was told they were really talking about a "grain looking effect." :-) Then I was shown the effect and my immediate re-action was... "Why didn't the morons call it "electronic grain?" And that's what I call it as soon as someone starts going on about "digital camera and noise!" Why? Well hell it's common sense photographic looking and something we understand instead of techie words with no relevance to photography lingo ;-) ted
