At some rational level I know that but I once had a professor that was a
terrible stickler for numerical accuracy no matter how trivial.  If we
accidentally dropped a digit or mistakenly inverted a number, he would
single us out and publicly admonish... "...you just killed your patient...".
I freely admit he scared me to death and it has probably effected the way I
look at numbers ever since.

Now spelling is a different matter ;-}
