This an amazing run down of Alpa going back to the old days by George Nyman

The last sentence suggests you ask them to make one out of solid titanium
for you. He gives you the impression they'd not blink an eye at such a
suggestion. Just ask them to make you anything.
Kind of sounds like Mr. Kobajashi of Cosina!
