Dear Fellow LUGgers,

I have not been contributing much of late - pressure of work. However, here
are 10 recent pictures - comments and critiques welcome as always:

My major tools have been 35 and 50mm Summicrons, but for some time I have
wondered about something wider; a 28mm perhaps. The CV is the cheapest
solution, but would I always feel that I should have gone for a Leica lens.
After many months of tossing the pros and cons around I finally bought a
second hand Elmarit - latest version with the flat front element. So far I
shot a couple of films with it and I can see that it is going to get some
getting used to. Firstly, I have got to that age when I need glasses for
critical things in the distance; though I can manage the 35mm frame with
specs, and that took some practice, there is no way I can with the 28mm.
Using my left eye is an added complication. So, I use it without glasses as
focusing is not so critical. It is large compared to the 35mm (pre-ASPH),
particularly with the lens hood, so not so discrete, which I prefer for
street work. Also, I often go out with just one lens and feel that the 28
is more of a specialised lens than the 50 or 35; so that really means taking
two lenses. Obviously, more experience and practice are required. I like
the depth of field and the facility with which I can get even closer.
Certainly, I am sure that I am going to enjoy it, but it is unlikely to
replace my 35mm. Three of these pictures are taken with it. The others are
35 and 50mm, Tri-X and Neopan 1600, Xtol or D76.

John
