The 35-70 > is a very good performer and fully usable wide open. I also got the 24 > to suit my wide angle needs. Unfortunately the 35-70 f/4 and the 24 protrude too far into the mirror chamber to work on the SL. SL2, yes. SL, no. FOr the SL the 35-70 f/3.5 will do, stop it down to f/5.6 or so for best performance.
