This suggests an interesting, almost related topic. While I am futzing with an image in Photoshop, I am guided by an ethic based on "I will only make transformations that I think I could have done in the darkroom". Soon, there will be a whole generation of photographers - i.e. people who use devices called cameras to capture images - who have never been in a darkroom, maybe have never heard of a darkroom, and have no idea what could have been done in a darkroom. Will their ethic become -- "Its OK as long as it can be done in Photoshop"? In the interest of full disclosure -- I am part way there myself. My darkroom experience was B&W - no color. I may be doing things myself that could not have been done in a darkroom. Oy. Or not. -- Clive Blog: http://www.clive.moss.net/blog/blog.html Photos: http://clive.smugmug.com/ Web: http://www.clive.moss.net
