The ends of an M are one big round. Like a Pentax Spotmatic or Nikon F2 pretty much. The ends of these are cameras are say 8th inch rounds. A slightly rounded off box. Even more boxy than a Nikon F. I believe the Spotmatic was the first of the rounded end more hand friendly designs and was renown for it's great (for the time) FEEL. But a Rollei 35 is a box. But a nice little box.
