Hi Peter,

Kings Cliffe was an important market centre in the middle ages but in the
English Civil War they sided with the Cavaliers so the victorious Roundheads
torched it. For that reason most of the village is no earlier than the 17th
century.

I also thought the buildings looked a little foreign but the honey coloured
stone is pure Northamptonshire.
