Chandos--to each his own. For me the noise issue is a major one. I hate 
flash, and so when I was debating with myself whether I should upgrade 
from the Canon 10D to the 20D when that came out last fall, the fact 
that the 20D was much better at high ISOs like 800 or 1600 was a major 
factor in my decision. I am amazed by the quality I can achieve with 
this camera at ISO 1600. And yes, I frequently do need that speed, even 
with f1.4 lenses.
