Since so many LUGgers are not native speakers of English, let me elaborate
on the word "troll".

While the most common meaning of "troll" is the creature under the bridge in
fairy tales, in the world of the internet, a troll is someone who says
things for the purpose of provoking argument or causing discord. Perhaps its
meaning derives from the verb "to troll", which is what fishermen do when
they are trying to catch fish. One hears about fishermen trolling for bass,
and about email users trolling for arguments.

I know that Bob doesn't like being called a troll, but it certainly seems to
me that his messages are intended to provoke controversy in a manner
different from that of most other posters.

Bob? Want to try purse seines or monofilament?
