The professional series (EOS 1 series) cameras make it hard to change a setting by mistake. So all major setting changes require two hands and four thumbs. The majority of professional photographers in Canon's clientele (mainly sports and PJ) prefer this as they "set and forget" and shoot and shoot and shoot. The consumer and prosumer series are designed to make setting changes easily. But as anyone who has had the *@!*! mode dial switch to the wrong setting by accident in the camera bag can attest, it's just a bit too easy. Ideally, Canon should have a custom function on the 1-series that would revert mode changes to single button as an OPTION.
