You can't see it in the pix, but it has a knurled set screw to tighten it onto the lens. [Ritz has one with a broken set screw for $29, if still available. A screw with the correct thread could easily be found in a good screw store.] As mentioned, it can be used on the Elmar 50/3.5 as a lens hood in normal use or an attachment to the lens when used on an enlarger. The Valoo has a slot that fits over the tiny slide on the lens to change apertures. Leitz also made earlier devices, maybe from the 1930's, to change the aperture but not to be used as a hood. They all were nickel [or unpolished chrome] and dubbed Valau, Voolq and Voola. I had the Valoo and the Valau and sold them with an Elmar and a Valoy enlarger around 1965, all for $50.
