Subject: [Leica] Screw Mount Lenses

Bill, here's a pix of a Leica Valoo. They all were black. You can't see it
in the pix, but it has a knurled set screw to tighten it onto the lens.
[Ritz
has one with a broken set screw for $29, if still available. A screw with
the
correct thread could easily be found in a good screw store.]
As mentioned, it can be used on the Elmar 50/3.5 as a lens hood in normal
use or an attachment to the lens when used on an enlarger. The Valoo has a
slot that fits over the tiny slide on the lens to change apertures.
Leitz also made earlier devices, maybe from the 1930's, to change the
aperture but not to be used as a hood. They all were nickel [or unpolished
chrome] and dubbed Valau, Voolq and Voola.
I had the Valoo and the Valau and sold them with an Elmar and a Valoy
enlarger around 1965, all for $50.
  Regards, bob cole
