I have been using both Canon L and Leica R lenses on my Canon 1DS Mk II and the difference is obvious. From my experience, you do not even need the 16.7mp CMOS of the 1DS Mk II to benefit from Leica lenses - my humble Canon 10D and Epson R-D1, with their relative low-res 6mp sensors, can reveal the superiority of most Leica lenses. May I ask which digital camera have you been using Leica lenses on?
